Today, academic Turkish lessons are given in the Turkish Teaching Centers of our universities to facilitate the communication of students in academic environments after Turkish instruction for general communication purposes. With these courses, researchers' interest in the concept of "academic Turkish" and the number of academic Turkish publications started to increase depending on this interest. However, academic Turkish education is not limited to only teaching Turkish as a foreign language. In education in their mother tongue, students intensely encounter academic Turkish starting from secondary school, especially within the scope of academic literacy skills.
In this study, academic Turkish was discussed in terms of course practices and evaluations in teaching as a foreign language, and within the scope of mother tongue education, in terms of the definition, scope and relationship of academic language with different Turkish disciplines, it was aimed to describe the current situation and offer suggestions for future studies. I hope that our book, which was created for this purpose, will be useful to experts and researchers in terms of providing information about current academic Turkish practices and laying the groundwork for future studies.
