The 2nd meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI) was held in İstanbul, Republic of Turkey, on 26 July 2017.
The Meeting was hosted by H.E. Ismet Yilmaz, Minister of National Education of Republic of Turkey. Ministers, Deputy Ministers and high level officials from Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan attended the Meeting. Minister of Education of Turkish Cypriot State also participated in the Meeting as special guest. Secretary-General of ECO along with relevant staff of the Secretariat as well as the President of ECO Science Foundation were also present.
The BoT nominated Prof. Mehmet Akif KİREÇCİ as the new President of the Institute. Mr. KİREÇCİ’s nomination as the President was approved as of 16 August 2017. Additionally, The BoT approved Scale of Assessment and the Annual Budget for the ECOEI and The Roadmap and Work Program of ECOEI.
ECO Secretary General Mr. Halil İbrahim AKÇA, Azerbaijan Minister of Education Mr. Mikail CABBAROV, Minister of National Education and Culture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mr. Özdemir BEROVA, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology of Iran Mr. Ali ZARAFSHAN, on behalf of the Minister of Education of Afghanistan Ankara Ambassador Mr. Amanullah JAYHOON, on behalf of the Minister of Education of Pakistan Head Consul of Istanbul Mr. Yousaf JUNAID, on behalf of the Minister of Education of Tajikistan Istanbul Consul Mr. Said EMOMOV, on behalf of the Minister of Education of Kazakhstan Mr. Consul General Serzhan SARSENBAYEV, the President of the ECO Science Foundation Mr. Manzoor Hussain SOOMRO and accompanying delegations participated to the meeting.
The Meeting discussed on how to re-activate the ECO Educational Institute where participating Members agreed to support Institute in its activities. The Meeting also agreed on the new scale of assessments, two-year work programme as well as annual budget of the Institute.
