First Symposium of Rectors of the ECO Member State Universities

ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) in partnership with the Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) organized the first official symposium of the Rectors of the ECO States’ Universities virtually on 4 March 2021.

The mission of the symposium was to expand academic collaborations between participating universities in the ECO region and provide grounds for strengthening academic foundations by improving civil and cultural partnerships among scholars. The Symposium also aimed to provide a platform for discussion of the possible opportunities for expanding academic ties between the universities.

The Symposium was participated by the ECO Secretary-General, the presidents of the ECO Specialized Agencies, Iranian Deputy Minister for International Affairs, and Iranian Deputy Chairman for Developing International Cultural Relations. In the Symposium, 17 universities from the ECO region represented and introduced their respective universities.

The delegates from the ECO Educational Institute have participated in the Symposium. At the Symposium, ECO Educational Institute President, Prof. M. Akif Kireçci, gave a speech via video as well. In his speech, the President highlighted the importance of closer contact and cooperation between ECO agencies and universities in the region. Prof. Kireçci also emphasized that the ECO Educational Institute is firmly committed to supporting the advancement of education in the Member States, through supporting experts, educators, institutions, and students. Finally, the President brought about the upcoming projects of the ECOEI and invited universities to involve and participate in the Institute’s events and activities.
